Stainless steel 304H welded tubing has about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, along with slightly higher carbon levels (0.04–0.10%) than type 304, enhancing high temperature strength and creep resistance. It has a tensile strength of about 585 MPa and a yield strength of 240 MPa, and it retains good ductility and toughness even at high temperatures. Welded form gives the structural strength and is appropriate for uses where seamless tubing is not needed. 304H has superior resistance to oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 800°C, which makes it a good material for heat-exposed structural parts, and still provides good corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments.
